Tank VS Roach Fight Prediction/ Undercard

This Saturday, we have an intriguing matchup on our hands as Gervonta “Tank” Davis takes on Lamont Roach in what could be one of Tank’s most technically challenging fights to date. While Roach is moving up from 130 pounds, he’s a proven champion with only one career loss, making him a credible opponent.

What makes this fight even more interesting is that Roach is already familiar with Tank’s style—the two fought three times in the amateurs and both hail from the DMV area. Some critics have dismissed this as a cherry-pick, arguing that Roach hasn’t done enough to deserve this shot, but I disagree. Roach has been boxing since childhood, and he holds a win over Hector Garcia, one of Tank’s previous opponents. That alone proves he’s capable of competing at a high level.

I expect this fight to be competitive early, with Roach using his technical skills to try and keep Tank at bay. However, as we’ve seen time and time again, Tank only needs one big shot to change the course of a fight. If Roach can survive all 12 rounds, that alone would be a win for him—his stock would rise significantly. However, that’s easier said than done. The last time Tank went the distance was against Isaac Cruz, and that was due to an injured hand.

Roach has looked confident in the buildup to this fight, which is a good sign. But will that confidence be enough to withstand Tank’s explosive power? That’s the big question. My prediction? A competitive fight early, but Tank finds the knockout shot before the final bell.

Beyond Davis vs. Roach, this card is stacked with great matchups that deserve more attention. We’re getting Alberto Puello vs. Sandor Martin and Jose Valenzuela vs. Gary Antuanne Russell, two fights that could steal the show.

Russell previously fought Puello and lost in what was an incredibly competitive fight. Puello’s ability to control distance and keep Russell on the outside proved to be the difference. Now, Russell has a tough challenge ahead in Valenzuela, who is making his first title defense after an impressive win over Isaac Cruz. The fact that Valenzuela took this fight right away is interesting—maybe he sees something in Russell that he can exploit. Still, I believe Russell has the edge in this one.

As for Puello vs. Martin, I see Puello’s reach and boxing ability giving him the advantage over Martin. If both Puello and Russell win, we might get a rematch between them, which would be an exciting fight for boxing fans. But as we all know, in this sport, anything can happen.

This is shaping up to be a great night of boxing, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.
